HP 2133 Mini-Note

How to Install Windows XP on the HP 2133 Mini-note

Getting XP installed on the Mini-note is pretty straightforward. There are a few issues with the sound drivers, but we can get them working like they should.

  1. Plug in your usb dvd/cd drive and put in your Windows XP disc (make sure it has SP2 on it!)
  2. Turn on the computer and start tapping the F9 key to get the Boot Menu. Select the cd drive and hit enter.
  3. Windows installer will start chugging a way and finally you be prompted to hit Enter to install XP…hit enter.
  4. Assuming you agree with Agreement, hit F8
  5. Now we’ll need to partition the drive. Hit D and then L to delete each partition.
  6. Hit C to create a new partition. It will default to the max space available which is fine unless you plan on dual booting the HP Mini-note 2133. Hit Enter to confirm your partition size.
  7. You’ll be back at the partition screen, hit Enter to continue.
  8. Choose NTFS Quick from the formating options and hit enter
  9. Now’s a good time to go catch a TV show on DVR and let it chew on the install for a while. (Unfortunately it’s no speed demon…)
  10. At some point it will give you the pretty interface, and then ask you for your XP Key… from here on it it’s pretty simple. Just follow the prompts.

Eventually it should reboot and you’ll see the XP desktop. From there you’ll want to install the Windows XP drivers for the mini-note.
