How to Upgrade the RAM in the HP 2133 Mini-Note
Upgrading the memory in the Mini-Note is pretty easy to do. The RAM slot is located under the keyboard, so it’s a little harder than most laptops. There is only one slot so make sure you’re only buying one chip to put in there. After the written instructions I also have a video of the process.
Items Required
- Small headed Phillips screw driver (the + one)
- New RAM stick: DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) SO-DIMM See the end of this guide for recommended RAM
First you’ll need to pop off the battery, so we can access the screws holding the keyboard in place
Looking at the back of the laptop with the battery off, you’ll see three screws. There’s only 3 screws back here so you can’t really screw (hehe) this up. You might not see one of them because it’s in the recessed area where the battery plugs in into the laptop. Once you’ve found all three, unscrew them and set them somewhere safe.
Now open your screen up and pull off the keyboard. This is the hardest part of the whole thing. You’ll just need to grab the edge near the screen and gently pull up on it until one of the sides pulls out. I had the best luck pulling on the right side of the keyboard.
With the keyboard off, over on the left hand side you’ll see the RAM. On either side of it are metal tabs that hold the DIMM in. Pull those out and the RAM should pop up.
Slide the RAM out and carefully put the new memory in at an angle. Once it doesn’t go in any further, press down into the motherboard so it latches on the metal tabs.
Snap your keyboard back into place, put the screws back in and plug the battery in.
Turn it on and you should be ready to go!

Recommended RAM Upgrades:
I really like Crucial and Kingston for RAM upgrades. Each has a lifetime warranty and their customer service is pretty quick usually.
