Improving High-definition Video Playback on the Mini-Note
Over in the First Impressions of XP on the Mini-Note post, Peach1200 suggested I try the K-Lite Mega Codec pack and Media Player Classic on some high-definition QuickTime videos. I was very impressed by the results. The 480p and 720p QuickTime trailers and some 720p WMV movies played back flawlessly in Media Player Classic. It really is a night and day difference. Thanks for sharing that Peach!

You’re welcome!

I think it’s just a matter of the ffdshow codec that is also a part of this codec compilation.
It should support the VIA chipset right away, so you are getting hardware acceleration out of the chipset.
It should support mpeg2, mpeg4 and wmv9
not sure about any hd encoder though

Yes, it’s definetely the ffdshow codec that does a great work!!
..as far as I know, hardware acceleration shouldn’t work with the normal version of Media Player Classic.. but it should work with the Media Player Classic Home Cinema edition: http://tibrium.neuf.fr/
It’s free too!
Josh, maybe you could try it and tell us if there’s some other improvement..
