Mini-Note Batteries Showing Up on HP.com
*UPDATE*
Looks like we may have got some bad info on the batteries… In the comments Heather posted her chat log with an HP rep who said these batteries weren’t for the Mini-Note. So who knows at this point… Sorry for any confusion.
Over on the our forums caelum found some part numbers and xboiledeggx looked them up on the HP Parts Store as and they’re listed as “Part is orderable, please call 1-800-227-8164 for availability.”
#482262-001 3-Cell for $207.10
#482263-001 6-Cell for $191.90
I just spoke with an HP rep who gave me this link for the 3-cell battery that lists it as “Part is in stock” instead of call for availability. Not sure what the difference is yet. Unfortunately the battery is $207.10…ouch. She said the 6-cell battery part number was still KU528AA but wasn’t available yet.

A $200 battery? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?
I believe I will just live with my clunky (and oddly cheaper) six cell battery until the fashion quota settles a bit and HP eases up on the whole “pillage the village” marketing strategy.
So, just to recap: Computer ~ $500; Replacement battery ~ $200. Yes I think I see what’s going on here . . .

Just doing my part to add to the confusion…
To go through the whole process and get the wrong battery would be…unfortunate.

Guest: i have a question about the availability of a laptop battery.
Kevin: Hello!
Kevin: May I know the laptop model you have ?
Guest: HP 2133. i would like to buy a 3-cell.
Kevin: 3-cell battery is not available for purchase at this time.
Guest: ok. i was reading a web site that mentioned this link: http://h20141.www2.hp.com/hpparts/Cart.asp?mscssid=2R51MXFEPN0M9NN21KCUA977224H0KAE.
Guest: that’s not it?
Kevin: I am checking…
Kevin: This battery is not compatible for this model.
Guest: i see. can i assume that, when it is available, it will appear under the accessories tab for HP2133?
Guest: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF08a/321957-321957-64295-321838-306995-3687084.html
Kevin: I have double checked for you.
Kevin: The second link that you have mentioned don’t show the battery option for this model.
Kevin: It will available for purchase from June.
Guest: ok. and i assume the price will be around $200 as well?
Kevin: Yes. You are correct.

Sigh.. typical HP. If it’s not gouging on ink cartridges, it’s gouging on batteries. (While you’re at it, look at the prices on the “Personal Media Drives,” They’re own “special” hard drives that they jack up the prices on).
Oh well, guess I’ll wait until june and hope that the price comes down at least a little.
