Hi,

I called HP two weeks ago to requests my SLED recovery discs. They arrived on the 8th August. My 2133 has had VHB, VHP, VB, Ubuntu 8.04, Xubuntu, Kubuntu, Fedora, CentOS and of course, XPPro. The linux installations worked well with the VIA display drivers and the Broadcom drivers. However, using the SLED restore CD's was very easy and everything worked. Even bluetooth and suspend to ram.

The only advice I can give for this mini-note is it's designed for Linux. The VIA CPU is way too under powered for OSes like Vista. Even with 2GB of RAM installed, the 2133 was sluggish. You just have to have realistic expectations for a device like this. Want to access internet resources, work processing?, then this mini-note is great. Anything else GPU or CPU intensive then wait a bit longer to see if HP start shipping the 2133 with the new Atom CPU and choose one of the newest Asus EeePC's!

If you call HP, they should send you a SLED 10.1 recovery disk, however, to date, you cant upgrade to SP2 without issues.

I downloaded the H2133 ISO image last night and tried to boot the ISO using an OpenSuse VM I have under VirtualBox. The ISO was not recongised as a bootable image, so does not appear to provide what we need.

I also burned the ISO to a DVD and tried to boot my PC using this DVD, with the same lack of success.

The ISO consists of two directories containing RPM files, with no files in the root directory. When I check other Linux bootable DVDs they contain boot files in root directory. Again, this suggests that the H2133 ISO cannot be booted.

I have also contacted HP Support, who tell me that they have not got access to recovery disks for the H2133. They confirmed that thy ahve received calls from H2133 owners requesting recovery disks and a master call has been raised within HP to resolve this issue.

I downloaded this ISO image and it's not a restore disc. Instead, it contains the source code RPM packages for the SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 SP1 system.

It's useful if you're really into Linux. HP is also abiding by the open source licenses by making this available.
