HP 2133 Mini-note

New Mini-Note Models coming on Monday and Thursday?

A very nice young lady from the middle east got to chatting with an HP rep today and sent her the following:

Part Number CPU Primary Storage RAM WLAN Camera OS Battery ILP
KR939UT#ABA 1.2GHz 120GB 5400 1024 1D abg (B) yes VB/XPP OR 6 cell $729
KR948UT#ABA 1.2GHz 160GB 5400 2048 1D abg (B) yes VB/XPP OR 6 cell $789
KR954UT#ABA 1.6GHz 120GB 5400 1024 1D abg (B) yes VB/XPP OR 6 cell $749
KR964UT#ABA 1.6GHz 160GB 5400 2048 1D abg (B) yes VB/XPP OR 6 cell $819

The rep also said he had not heard about any user configurable options, so I’m not sure what’s up with that. They are however offering XP as an install option.

The pricing structure seems to off on this, but when the Mini-Note was released they did have one for $849 that had the 1.2GHz CPU, 1GB RAM and Vista Home… so it could be these are not the finalized prices.

I just called HP and they confirmed that XP will be available on the 15th, but she couldn’t say if it was pre-installed or CD only. I’ll call again shortly.

Thanks again “that chick from Israel”!

Update: I called twice more and the rep said that XP is coming out for sure on the 15th…but the second rep didn’t have a clue when it was coming out. He could only “assume” it would be “soon”.

Update 2: I just did a chat and got this:

Jay: Good afternoon! My name is Jay, chatting from beautiful Colorado, and please give me a moment to review the chat so far.

Jay: Hello, and thanks for looking to HP’s award winning line of business notebooks. I see you have a question on the newly released 2133, and when an xp loaded mini is available. Next week we will be offering 4 new mini models preloaded with xp.

Guest: awesome

Jay: Does that work, and did you have another question for me on the popular 2133 mini?

So here they come!

Update 3: I was digging and some more and found this ultralight notebook comparison page which lists XP as an option for the Mini-Note

w00t! I don’t have a copy of XP kicking around (that I can find) so this makes me very happy! Now, if only HP Canada would actually have this for sale on their site!

have we heard anything about models heading to electronics stores like best buy or HH greg?

That’s crazy. I talked with two different reps online yesterday and they said that there was not an XP pre-installed option, just that the XP disks would be available if you had Vista Business model… what gives?

  4. Jeff Says:

No 7200 drive? I’d certainly sacrifice an extra 40GB for a faster HDD. If they release the top end 1.6GHz, 2GB, XP and a 7200 120GB HDD, I am in. I guess I could go with the current $749 model and roll-back to XP. Actually, if these new models offer XP on cd vs pre-installed, it might make the roll-back easier.

Chat InformationHello, you are now chatting with Jay.

Jay: Good afternoon! My name is Jay, chatting from beautiful Colorado, and please give me a moment to review the chat so far.

Jay: Hello, and thanks for looking to HP’s award winning line of business notebooks. I see you have a question on the newly released 2133, and how may I help you today?

Guest: Jay I talked with you the other day from beautiful Colorado…

Jay: Very nice, and how may I help you today?

Guest: I was told a few days ago that the XP downgrade option would come on a disk w/drivers and that NO pre-configured XP Pro model was offered. The disks would be offered to those who had previsouly bought the Vista Business model. I would call on the 15th and get the disks sent to me. Now, I have heard that there WILL be a pre-config model offered and that NO disks will be available to the people who ordered the Vista Business. I made a purchase based on this information and bought the Vista Business model, with the intent of ‘downgrading’ to the XP Pro when they released the disks on the 15th. I need to know if this is still the case and if not I need to talk with someone who can take care of this.

Jay: Here’s the short and sweet on that, and it has changed since Monday too………..Next week we will be offering 4 new mini models preloaded with xp.

Jay: Originally only the media offering the xp shipped on the vista business models, but now will have the 4 out next week with it preinstalled already on there.

Guest: Oh… that;s nice since i already bought the Vista Business… Can I still get the XP Pro disks?

    Jay: You sure can.

Guest: Ok, how do I go about doing this

Jay: The downgrade media will be available by calling the tech support line next week as well………….800 888 0262 option 2 for that.

Guest: Ok, BTW - what are the specs for the new models

Jay: We actually do not have that info yet……..won’t have it until they release next week on the specs.

    Guest: Ok, then thanks.

    Jay: You are welcome.
