Six-cell Batteries Available for the Mini-Note in June
Just chatted with two different reps and spoke with another and the 6-cell battery will be available for purchase in June. The part number for the battery is KU528AA, and unfortunately no details on price at this point. All three originally thought it was available, but when I asked for the price they said it wasn’t actually available until June.
I know a lot us are wanting a 3-cell for normal every day use, but none of them knew when the 3-cell would be available for the Mini-Note.

About the 3 cell batteries - I was on hold with tech support, general support as well as replacement division of the company trying to see if they even had a part number for the 3 cell battery, and perhaps how one would go about replacing a lost battery.
No good. The only reference about a battery for the mini-note was the ‘realtime clock battery’ - whatever that is… They are clueless. They did not have the mini-note in the system as they kept asking if the laptop was a Pavillion or another HP laptop…

HP is really leaving a lot of money on the table by not offering accessories like spare batteries, chargers, and cases right off the bat. Sooner or later, if the Mini proves successful enough, 3rd party vendors will step in.

Too bad about the 3-cell :/… It doesn’t make sense to me. Why would they not put out these basic necessities when there is obviously a demand for them. I spent a good amount of time on the phone w/ HP as well, speaking with multiple departments, but nobody had a clue about what was going on it seems. It’s disappointing. I REALLY want the 3-cell battery for every-day use instead of using this huge honking 6-cell when I don’t really need it until I’m out on the road.
HP should definitely be taking this into consideration for future accessories w/ this laptop. And by future, I mean the very near future…

Hi @Roo - nice name.
Great news on the 6 cell.
Spare chargers are everywhere though. Warning! - some cheapy eBay clones only provide 18.1V which is not enough to charge the battery and run the unit. Each *official* AC/DC adapter has a unique serial number and unique ID number, whereas the eBay clones all have the same serial number…
The charging port on the HP2133 is unique enough - so its hard to find adapter tips and something in the 19V(+) charging range. I have a source for tips, but waiting to verify they work or not - another week wait.
Good luck

If you happen to chat to them again, do you think you could check up on the ETA for a replacement UK keyboard?

Based on my past experiences with HP and buying their laptops right after they are released, give them a few months and they will have the 6-cell and 3-cell batteries available for sale. It is frustrating I know, the 6-cell battery drives me nuts because it makes moving the notebook around, a hassle.

I entirely agree with everyone about the three cell battery…I’ve been waiting for them to make it available to replace this huge six cell.

RM in the UK are selling the 2GB version of the 2133 with the 6 cell battery fitted as standard and are offering with Vista Business or with XP Pro factory installed . See http://www.rm.com
They are also advertising the Vista Business 6 cell model on amazon.co.uk.

I’ve spent 6+ hours this week with HP techs, and no 3 cell yet. I can’t stand the 6 cell… didn’t even charge it. They’re shooting for cheap, and I spent a grand and still can’t get what I want!!! Kid’s PC? I think they’ve missed the boat! I want a workstation replacement in the 2133 size factor, and I’m close to sticking with my IBM for another year.
Any leads on 3 cell would be appreciated.

This is hardly a kid’s PC - I love it.
I have asked our global corporate rep. to find out about the 3 cell batteries and will let everyone know.
