I made a kernel for the mininote, ubuntu style, with working soundcard, wifi and optimized for Via C7 cpu. Works great with the minbuntu dist.

Check my thread on the forums, or the mininoteuser forums.

HP could very easily do their own Ubuntu version as well and offer it.

HP 2133 needs better battery life (compared to MSI Wind 6 cell or the EeePC 6 cell class machines HP is lacking).

HP using Novell SuSE Linux, shows that they don't do their homework as many just plain and simple don't like SuSE (for technical and other reasons).

That is a good thing to leave out OpenOffice as then you can install a clean new OpenOffice 3.x VERY SOON.

OpenOffice 3.x works with more email clients (uses the data from the contact lists, like Thunderbird for example). There are many other advantages to OOo 3.x too.

A custom Ubuntu distro is great news.

For those interested in running stock Ubuntu on the Mini-Note, there's a How-To on the Ubuntu LaptopTestingTeam wiki.

I can confirm that snd-hda-intel.ko mutes the speaker when earphones are inserted. Excellent!

This is good news as it would make it less of a chore of installing my favorite OS. If Isaiah comes out soon enough then I actually might get this but to be honest I will probably end up getting an MSI Wind.
